Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to be involved in the Isle of Man Darts Classic 2013 competition taking place next week at the Villa Marina.
With all the tickets sold out, the tournament on September 28 will attract over a thousand spectators. The evening will bring the fun darts atmosphere to the Isle of Man that so many residents travel off-Island to experience.
Over the course of the summer, preliminary tournaments have been taking place across the Island to find four Manx players who will play in the final against some of the biggest names in darts including sixteen-time World Champion Phil 'The Power' Taylor as well as renowned champions James Wade, Simon Whitlock and Michael van Gerwen. The four Manx players will also have free entry into the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Isle of Man heat which has a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000.
Isle of Man Post Office is one of the main sponsors with the overall event being sponsored by PokerStars.
Lisa Duckworth, Commercial Director, Isle of Man Post Office said:
"During the past 18 months, Isle of Man Post Office has been building a portfolio of clients in the eGaming industry offering our secure direct mail and mobile scratch card services. The Darts Classic provides the opportunity to further raise awareness of our services in this sector. We are very much looking forward to sponsoring our first sports gaming event. It's billed to be a full evening of entertainment featuring Andy Fordham as the celebrity host, a raffle and charity auction, in aid of Oskar's Dreams, as well as the final competition itself. With the event a complete sell-out, it certainly adds to the value of our sponsorship involvement."
Steve Templeman, Director of TGP, organisers of the Isle of Man Darts Classic 2013 said:
"We are delighted to have the Isle of Man Post Office involved in this sell-out event which is set to be a superb evening of entertainment. The event is a fantastic opportunity for local darts players to take on a World Champion, as well as winning the opportunity to play in the PokerStars UKIPT. We'd like to thank Isle of Man Post Office for helping to facilitate such a wonderful event for the Island."
