Post Office Announce Changes to its Tariff and Product Structure Effective from the New Year

Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is pleased to announce the outcome of a strategic review of its postal products, service and tariff offering designed to meet customer needs and expectations.

A number of changes will come into effect over two phases in January and February. While the initial changes will pass on increased costs for letter and all international mail, IOMPO is pleased it will continue to offer lower local and UK parcel tariffs for 2025. A key feature of the new local services to be launched in February, is full tracking, mindful of how increasingly important this is to customers. The tariff and product changes are aimed at improving affordability of sending parcels, and recognising letter mail costs by providing lower cost services for Isle of Man postings.

The changes are also reflective of extensive customer research undertaken by IOMPO and listening to customer feedback and analysing their needs. This research-driven approach ensures that IOMPO’s pricing adjustments are aligned with customer expectations and market demands.

With effect from 13th January 2025, the new pricing model will see the introduction of separate standard letter rates for the IOM and UK, with a local to local letter rate of 90p, a UK rate of £1.00. Rates for standard large letters will be simpler, with a single rate each for IOM, or UK/Channel Islands destinations. Mail destined for international locations will see updates to all prices and weight bands. World zones for international mail will also be removed, meaning a single letter rate to all international destinations, and large letter and parcel rates simplified to either EU or Rest of World.

IOMPO’s popular promotional rate for tracked parcels from £3.75 will continue into the New Year. This is available through IOMPO’s recently launched Online Postage service which provides customers with a convenient way to administer their postage needs at a time and location to suit them. It

also makes it easier for customers to determine the cost of sending mail and packages, ensuring a more user-friendly experience including free doorstep collections. Since its introduction, IOMPO has been pleased to receive such positive customer feedback and has plans to improve the offering further in 2025.

Other tariff changes from January include an increase equivalent to C.P.I. of 2.5%* which will be applied to ancillary services such as Redirect, Business Reply and PO Box Services.

At the end of February, the second tranche of price and product changes will come into effect, which we are confident will be welcomed by customers. Following the successful trial of our promotional parcel offer, the changes include revisions to tariffs, weight bands and sales channels for standard parcels and Special Delivery for local and UK destinations. Further details about these changes will be made available in the New Year.

Stu Peters MHK, Chairman of IOMPO said: “The Board have endeavoured to carefully balance affordability and value for money, against the backdrop of rising costs that ensure the continued provision of our high quality services. We believe the price changes, together with the new product features, respond to our valued customers changing needs, and our commitment to remain our Island’s leading trusted delivery partner.”
