Isle of Man Post Office Chief Executive, Mike Kelly said: "Following the debate and successful motion in yesterday's House of Keys sitting, Isle of Man Post Office welcomes the decision to postpone the planned conversions of Ramsey and Douglas directly managed Post Offices to sub Post Offices by three months from December 2nd 2014.
The motion accepted was "that this House is of the opinion that the Post Office's planned conversion of the Crown Offices in Douglas and Ramsey should be postponed for up to three months from December 2nd 2014 to permit the affected staff and local authorities to discuss proposals for achieving the objectives of these conversions and for these to be considered by the Post Office."
The Post Office Board and Management continues to believe that the losses across its retail network cannot continue at this magnitude, and looks forward to working with the affected key stakeholders to identify some alternative options for achieving the necessary savings."
