In support of Isle of Pride and LGBTQ+ community, Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is proud to temporarily redecorate the post box located within the Sea Terminal in the colours of the Pride flag. IOMPO will also be updating their branding on all of their social media channels to mark the Island’s first ever Pride festival which will take place on Saturday 12th June 2021.
In addition to these gestures IOMPO’s dedicated sponsorship committee has agreed to support Isle of Pride with the printing of 5000 post cards to be distributed during the festival.
Gemma Woodford, Human Resources Officer IOMPO, said: “Isle of Man Post Office is proud to be an equal opportunities employer with strong values reflecting our pledge to treat each other with fairness and respect embracing diversity and inclusivity. Our workforce has always been considered to be a vital representative delivering an essential service to the Island’s communities and as such we provide equality awareness training and an environment where all individuals, including those from diverse backgrounds, feel welcome and accepted.“
Dawn Kinnish, a director and trustee of Isle of Pride added that “Pride 2021 is a milestone in the Island’s transformational journey towards greater visibility and inclusivity, not only for the LBGTQIA+ community but also the wider Manx community. It presents an opportunity to pay tribute to those who bravely went before and campaigned to change attitudes to bring us to where we are and for everyone, regardless of difference, to celebrate and be proud of who they are. We are delighted that IOM Post Office have shown their commitment to inclusion and partnered with Isle of Pride.”
