Isle of Man Post Office awarded third place in 2015 Festival of Trees competition

At Save the Children's Festival of Trees Awards Dinner on the night of Saturday 16th January, held in the splendid Barrovian Hall at King Williams College, Isle of Man Post Office was awarded third place for its 2015 exhibit entitled, 'Step into our magical winter wonderland this Christmas', under the category 'Best of Festival'.

The Dinner opened with a welcome speech to attendees from John Cuddy, Chairman of Save the Children Douglas Branch. John said: "First of all a huge thank you to all our exhibitors, the standard of the exhibits seems to get better each year. I know that an enormous amount of time, work and energy is put into each exhibit, and the Festival has been enjoyed by so many people, especially children.

We estimate that this year's Festival has raised in the region of eight thousand pounds - this could not have been achieved without your help and support, for which we thank you."

Following the dinner John then invited Geoff Corkish MBE MLC to come forward and present the 2015 awards. In the 'Best of Festival' category, first place were joint winners PokerStars and Ashley Hill School, runners up were King William College and Onchan Library and in third place were Isle of Man Post Office, Crossroads Care and Brush Stroke Art Group. Following this, the evening was wrapped up with a raffle and prize draw.

The festival, in its 14th year on the Isle of Man, saw the Post Office's winning scene capture iconic images from the timeless classic, 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' including, Aslan the majestic lion, the Snow Queen's Crown and a magical wardrobe with an entrance to the snowy world of Narnia. In addition, it provided details of the Post Office's convenient foreign currency service available across its network of Post Office branches and online at www.iompost.com.

Sarah Read, Isle of Man Post Office Sponsorship Committee Chairman said: "We were absolutely delighted to have come third place on Saturday evening for our display at this year's Festival of Trees competition and would like to thank everyone who voted for us. Save the Children is a fantastic charity and its work has a huge impact on vulnerable children around the world. We are pleased to continue to help back the vital work it carries out through our support of the Festival of Trees initiative which we have continued to sponsor for some years now."

The Isle of Man Post Office Sponsorship Committee aims to support a variety of local initiatives throughout the year and is always keen to hear from individuals and organisation's looking for support which it may be able to help with.
