Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is looking for suitable partners Island-wide to provide a parcel collection facility on its behalf. The service was recently improved with a text message now sent to customers who choose to collect a parcel from their preferred location, advising them when the parcel is available to collect. Parcels are continuing to be a rapidly growing market and therefore IOMPO is keen to ensure it provides customers with convenient collection sites with late night and weekend opening times.
Julie Edge MHK, Chairman of IOMPO, said: “We recognise that with the busy lives many of us have, convenience is key and so we would like to be able to offer parcel collection points in as many communities as possible, widening the nine sites we currently have in place.”
The way in which the collection points operate is simple. Customers who receive a notice left card when they are not at home to receive a parcel, can either collect it from the site specified on the card or go online to IOMPO’s website and arrange to collect the item from the most convenient location listed.
Ms Edge MHK continued: “A key element of IOMPO's retail modernisation strategy is to adapt the way we provide postal services in light of the changing demands of our customers. Whilst we need to ensure all our services are delivered in a financially responsible way, we are committed to ensuring that they reflect customer demand in the local community.
She added: “We hope the expressions of interest advert will attract a wide-range of businesses or organisations that are looking to increase their footfall and generate an additional income, whilst providing an important service to the community.”
The expression of interest is available to view at www.iompost.com/procurement and the Isle of Man Government’s procurement website www.gov.im/categories/business-and-industries/expressions-of-interest/ from today (Friday 4th December). The deadline for responses is 5pm on Monday 4th January 2021.
