Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is pleased to announce the extension of the trial period for its UK bound Special Delivery - Next Day service until the end of 2024. This announcement follows the success of an initial trial period, following Royal Mail’s withdrawal of the dedicated mail plane.
UK bound Special Delivery – Next Day items are dispatched via a scheduled airline Monday – Friday and offers full tracking to the customer with a signature on delivery. There is a 9am or 1pm delivery guarantee and up to £2500 compensation available. The service is available to residential and commercial customers and can be accessed from the customer service suite at Postal Headquarters*. Commercial account customers can also access the service through IOMPO’s online solution Click and Dispatch, and the Business Solutions franking service.
Russell Cowin, IOMPO Head of Commercial said: “This trial was born out of IOMPO’s commitment to providing reliable and efficient delivery solutions for those requiring a next day service. To date, service take up has been good, reliability has been high and customer feedback positive. From the outset we said any alternative (to a dedicated mail plane) service had to be commercially viable. Extending the trial at this stage will allow us to fully understand the financial sustainability of the service.”
As well as the Special Delivery – Next Day service, there is also the Special Delivery – Two Day by 5.30pm service, which comes with a range of compensation options, signature on delivery, full tracking and is available from sub-post offices Island-wide, and via the Business Solutions options listed above.

*Customers accessing UK bound Special Delivery – Next Day from customer service suite at Postal Headquarters must purchase before 3pm on the day of dispatch and is only available Monday – Friday.
Commercial customers accessing the service via Click and Dispatch or Business Solutions Franking must purchase before 1pm on the day of dispatch and is only available Monday – Friday.
