All three collections support of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, helping to support the hospital's most urgent needs.
After completing his university education, Peter Pan creator J.M. Barrie relocated to London, where he resided near Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). During his time there, he became a supporter of the hospital and, in 1929, he was invited to join a committee aimed at acquiring land for a much-needed new wing. Although Barrie declined this offer, he expressed his desire to “find another way to help.” Just two months later, the hospital board was astonished to discover that he had donated the rights to Peter Pan to GOSH, granting the hospital the royalties from every production of the play and publication of the book.

Part one:
Each of the coins in these wonderful collections is dedicated to a favourite character from the book, including Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tick-Tock the Crocodile, Tinkerbell, Wendy and Nana. The Peter Pan 50p features an engraving of David Wyatt's illustration from the Oxford University Press edition of Peter Pan, alongside a well-known and much loved quote from the book.
