It was with deep sadness I heard last evening, along with the rest of the world that HM Queen Elizabeth II, Lord of Mann passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle. Like so many I will always remember the place and time.
For me and a great number of colleagues, both past and present, there could have been few jobs where every day of our working life we were mindful of our deep and long lasting association with her.
When looking through our Isle of Man Post Office stamp collection this morning, I felt huge emotion and a sense of nostalgia, to be able to move from page to page and remember all the royal approval petitions, some of which came back with comments. In a world where so much is virtual, it was an experience many will not be able to enjoy. I hope you too get the same pleasure.
Queen Elizabeth II, Patron of the Philatelic Traders Society and custodian of the Royal Philatelic Collection, was extremely supportive of philately. In a time of sadness, we also look forward to continuing our relationship by gifting all our new issues with the cypher of HM King Charles III for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.
Isle of Man Stamps & Coins would like to extend our deepest sympathy to HM King Charles III, all members of the Royal Family and Royal Household of HM Queen Elizabeth II Lord of Mann.
