A special commemorative cover to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay to the Isle of Man has been unveiled by Isle of Man Post Office.
Tomorrow (Saturday) will see the Isle of Man host the Olympic Flame. Selected torch bearers and the Island as a whole will celebrate the arrival of the flame, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The commemorative cover featuring Isle of Man Post Office's London 2012 Olympic Games stamps, designed by world fashion designer Sir Paul Smith, will also feature a unique postmark. The cover will be on sale throughout the day (June 2) at various outlets including Regent Street and Castletown Post Offices.
The relay's first leg will take place at the National Sports Centre (NSC) in Douglas where it is hoped there will be a real celebratory feel to the day with local residents coming out in force to welcome the arrival of the torch with Manx flags. It will then visit a variety of locations around the Island finishing in the south where there will be a cololourful afternoon of celebration in Castletown Square – set to be a real family day out, not to be missed out.
Maxine Cannon, Sales & Marketing Manager, Isle of Man Stamps & Coins said: "The commemorative cover is a perfect souvenir from what will be a very historic day for the Isle of Man."
The cover is priced £10 (product code QA97).
